Auggghhhh

What is WRONG with these people? Seriously, do they not have anything better to do than to HARASS me?
It's enough to make me want to quit and take another job. Being a WalMart greeter looks pretty appealing right now...
Why oh why can't life be easy, and why is it a crime to push people in front of oncoming cars?

Just a few of my thoughts for today. Put that in yer pipe and smoke it.

Mom's Day

It's lovely to be living so close to the family now. We got to drive in "to the city" last weekend to spend time with them.




In other news, we got our trailer cheque the other day and deposited it in our bank yesterday.
We are now debt free on our line of credit, our vehicle and our credit card. Ooh that feels good! And, we still would make a good chunk of change if we sold our apartment.

We met with a mortgage specialist as our mortage was up for renewal in two weeks. It is absolutely insane how much has come together during this time, including, as mentioned, our mortgage. He gave us some very encouraging words and some good advice on our mortgage renewal so we're not locked in for if and when we buy a house.

All in all, things are going smoothly. Now, if I could just get a hang to this job.

Time flies

I have officially been here one month as of today.
It has gone quickly, to say the least. Can't think of why, it's not like I've been that busy. Let's see, in one month I've had a few new things...

In housing:
I lived with a stranger for three weeks, called at least two dozen places for rent, drove to at least half a dozen, wanted to rent one, almost rented a scary one and ended up renting a nice one. Moved in, am now unpacking...

In people:
Left husband, Golden friends, co-workers, neighbors, aquaintances and all the faces I came to know and love over the last year and a half.
Met a brand new set of co-workers, lived with strange lady for three weeks, met two new councils, two new mayors, two new fire chiefs, new police sergeant, new principals, new teachers, new students, new faces absolutely everywhere I turned...

In job:
Turned out four editions of the paper, wrote about councillors booting out co-workers, naked principals, garden shows, art shows, choir shows, kid shows, contests, places burning, places building, people doing cool stuff, people doing boring stuff. I think I've churned out about 30 stories so far. New type of writing - editorials - definitely a new experience.

In life:
Left Running Club, took up belly dancing. Starting to learn about my new surroundings, how to get places, who to talk to for what and what time of day Mt. Cheam is most gorgeous (all the time!) Found new church which I went to alone for several weeks. Got new haircut with new blond streaks put in too.

I'm sure there's more. But that's all I can think of for now. I wonder what next month will hold...

Update

Whew. Finally have a little bit of time for an update. Well, I don't, but I know my blog readers deserve one!
So, our move in went REALLY well. Justin rolled into town earlier than I expected, which was so exciting. But the moving truck was enormous! They had given him the wrong size - no surprise since when we rented a Uhaul to move out of student housing, the same thing happened only that time they gave us a caravan sized vehicle, which we refused to take - anyway, it was a big truck this time.





Doesn't this look lovely? It is a really cute house, and I am so glad to be living there, especially since it means we're not living in the trailer or some other sketchy place.



So, we started moving in, and Justin actually went out for a photo assignment (woo-hoo!). After he came back, four people showed up that we totally weren't expecting to come and help. Thanks guys!
The Roths also came to help, and before we knew it, we were all moved in. It was really quick with all that great help.



We all sat in the backyard, ate pizza, chatted and relaxed. Dave showed up just after the pizza came out - good timing Dave!

It's almost time...

Yay, Justin is coming soon! I can't wait. He called me from Kamloops a couple hours ago, should be here in a few more! Woo-hoo!

Quick update

Hi blogosphere,
So, I've got my cheques back from the trailer dude, after, of course, I put a stop payment on them. Oh well, better to be safe than sorry.
We move into our place on Sunday - YAY!!
Things will settle down a little more for me once that happens. And, our mobile home has now been sold for sure, which feels very good.
As for the community, there are a lot of people here that I'm just not sure what to do with. The rest seem pretty normal.
I got to go on a farm tour yesterday, it was uber cool. Saw very clever small-scale farming at work - innovative minds are definitely thinking on ways to solve some tough challenges for the Canadian food industry.
Tonight, I'm off to a flood meeting. There is a very real threat out here in the valley that we will see some major flooding. Good fodder for me in my business anyway, if not for everybody else.

Gotta go, deadlines are looming...

New pad

Still don't have my cheques back from the trailer dude, but there's still time to deal with that...
Here's the new pad.


The back yard looks pretty sweet. There's a deck coming off the bedroom, a lovely tree, shed, and a nice size spot for BBQs!





I cannot wait until Justin gets here. This is ridiculous, that on top of everything else, I must endure this long without my hubby. I mean, really, could we not move together for once?!! Plus, I miss my kitty Noah.
It will be nice to not live out of my suitcase, to sleep in my own bed, to have my toothbrush out of its travel case and to finally unpack my car.
But, in the meantime, God has been very good to us. It seems both of us are working well on our own respective ends of the province getting things done, getting our lives organized and counting down the days until we are together again.
