Merry Christmas

Well, we're off to the coast, where I won't really have internet access. So this is my last post for a little while.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Nuthin?

OK people. C'mon. I gave you blogger gold. No comments? Boo on you! Ha, ha, just kidding. I know I've only blogged a bit, but my sense of self worth seems to be strangely attached to the interest shown to my meanderings on my blog. What is wrong with me? It is strange because I do this for a living and don't particularly care if I don't get responses. Actually, in that job, I'm glad I don't get many responses because people only tend to do that when they are not happy with something.

Where I live

A few things I love about living where I now live:

• a traffic jam is when there are four cars at a four way stop
• recognizing people's cars around town
• running into people I know pretty much everywhere
• five minute commute to work
• listening to the traffic report for the Lower Mainland. HA HA!!!
• FOUR seasons. That's right, there are four distinct seasons here
• I can go cross country skiing out my back door up a small hill
• I can sled down the hill behind my place
• I can go snowboarding within 20 minutes of my house
• My backyard is huge!

A few things I miss now that I'm living where I live:
• friends
• family
• home delivery of newspapers
• the ability to buy a daily newspaper before 1 p.m.
• money in my bank account

Oh Stephen...

I have a love/ hate relationship with Stephen Harper. I have been so proud to call him my prime minister sometimes, and other times he just sickens me.
The way he sleazeballed his way out of a real debate on same sex marriage made me furious. I was absolutely, 100% positive that he would reopen a real debate on the issue when he won majority government after a spring election. It wouldn't make sense to open a contentious issue like that when the votes weren't on his side.
But then completely cheats on his promise to look at the issue again by offering the lame vote by MPs to decide whether to re-discuss the much-discussed issue.
To top it off, he waited until after the Liberals had their crap in order to go ahead. If he had put out the vote earlier, at least some Liberals would have their head in the Liberal sand dunes.

But then he turns around and says we're going to look at senate reform. YAY!!!! I feel like Preston Manning is shadowing the government when we hear phrases like Triple E senate spoken in Parliament. Haven't heard that in ages, and I'm excited just to see what kind of debate ensues in the new year.

On another note, thanks to George from the Hour, I found out that CPAC is on the web. Sweet - let the good times roll!

ha ha ha!

I was just reading the Vancouver Courier and they were talking about some of the best and worst gifts they found available for Christmas presents.
One was the pee-pee teepee. The funniest thing about this is one of my best friend's mom actually makes these! Couldnt' stop giggling when I read the story.

Here's what they had to say about the pee-pee teepee:

Pee-Pee Teepees

Besides draining your bank account, killing your dreams and growing up to forsake you, babies, particularly baby boys, tend to pee everywhere when you change their diapers. In the air, on themselves and, worst of all, all over you. With that in mind, the makers of Pee-Pee Teepees hope to put a lid on this silent epidemic-a washable, 100 per cent cotton, wizard hat-shaped lid. According to the press bumph, "Just place a pee-pee teepee on his wee-wee during diaper changes, and the hazard is averted." I guess "wang wigwam" was culturally insensitive and didn't rhyme with any euphemisms for the male anatomy. Not only do these one-size-fits-all piss protectors come in packs of five, but they're decorated with a choice of airplanes, cars and, fittingly, fire trucks. For the festive parent, there are even teepees made to look like Santa hats. So even if your wee one isn't old enough to appreciate his new hood ornament, his future therapist will.
